Situated in the larger Doubtless Bay, between historical Mangonui village and the Taipa estuary.
This picturesque bay with a pinkish sandy beach was the landing point of an undersea telegraph cable, forming part of the "All Red Line" Pacific Cable Network
Operating between 1902 and 1912, the telegraph station linked Australia, Canada and Norfolk Island.
Part of the original building now forms part of the Duke of Marlborough hotel in Russell!
